Uncovering the Layers – Action Research

Three days (Over three terms – 1 day per term)

A proven method for sustained and incremental improvement is to undertake your own action research project in school.  But scoping, planning and deciding on the best research methods to use can be a daunting task.

Why not ask us to facilitate this work by using proven ways of working based on internationally recognised mulit-method approaches?

From formulating your research question, to choosing the method of research to gathering and critiquing the evidence and structuring your report, we are there every step of the way to guide, challenge and mentor you as the lead researcher.

In preparing for Curriculum for Wales, 2022, now is an ideal time to develop an in-school research project to inform the pedagogy of the new curriculum. 

Course participants will:

  • Identify an area of research that is pertinent to their own and/or the school’s development.
  • Explore and use methods that others in the field of research agree are reliable.
  • Learn to gather evidence on which the research rests which peers may choose to review.
  • Consider what responsible research looks like; it is professionally and ethically conducted using valid methods and producing reliable results.
  • Develop their role as a responsible researcher as someone who meets the expectations personally and professionally.
  • Conclude their research and publish a paper either for their peers in school or for a wider audience.

Target Audience:  Teachers and School Leaders, and SIG Groups.

Please note this course comprises of training ‘episodes’ and spans two school years.

Glenda Dudley
Glenda Dudley has worked in education for more than twenty years, both in the UK and in international contexts in Europe and the Middle East. During her career, Glenda has held posts as a teacher, a Headteacher and was the inaugural Head of Centre of Wales’ largest children’s centre; the Ely and Caerau Children’s Centre.
