Creativity at the Core – Nurturing a Culture of Creativity

1 day course

‘Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainty.’ Leonardo Da Vinci

If you have ideas but don’t act on them then you are imaginative but not creative.

8 out of 10 people feel that unlocking creativity is critical to economic growth. Nearly two-thirds of parents feel creativity is valuable to society, yet a striking minority – only 1 in 4 parents – believe they are living up to their own creative potential and don’t see it as a priority in school.

So how do we develop the ethos to take ideas forward and nurture the talents of our children and young people?

This course explores what contributes to a thriving creative culture in schools and why enterprise and creativity are central pillars of the Four Purposes.

Course participants will:

  • Explore what imagination is and why it is important.
  • Consider the dimensions of creativity.
  • Consider what contributes to an environment that encourages and supports creativity.
  • Explore a theme through creative, imaginative and hands-on experiences.
  • Consider ways in which we can stimulate children’s imagination through environmental provision both indoors and outside.
  • Build a more positive and creative working culture for children and adults.
