Changing Rooms – Quality Provision and Practice

1 day course

‘If a child can’t learn the way that we teach, then we should teach the way that they learn.’ Ignatio Estrada

What makes a great learning environment?

If you’re focussed on getting children to become inquirers and collaborators but you are not sure where to start, then this course will offer you insights and practical next steps.

Taking the environment as a starting point, we consider what would be an exciting and appropriate learning space for children at different stages of learning. We further explore interactions, experiences and learning situations that optimise thinking and learning.

A highly engaging course that will influence the range and quality of opportunity in your learning space.

Course participants will:

  • Reflect on how the environment supports or detracts from 21st Century learning and an opportunity to consider best practice.
  • Consider the changes to traditional pedagogy in readiness for CfW 2022.
  • Identify the essential elements required for holistic, active learning such as effective continuous provision and the role of the adult.
  • Explore how collaboration in the classroom can be developed through situations, interactions and processes.
  • Consider the correlation between learning assets and collaborative learning.
  • Plan for changes within their own environment in the short and long term.

Target Audience: Years 1- 6 Teachers and School Leaders

This course can be adapted with a focus on PS1, PS2 or PS3 and is best delivered in school. It can be delivered as a whole school course with adaptations for each Progression Step.
