Objectives

This course will offer participants:

  • develop an insight into the key elements needed for Cooperative Learning
  • consider the rationale for its use in different situations within school
  • explore practical ways in which teaching assistants can support and enhance Cooperative Learning on a day-to-day basis with groups of children
  • provide strategies for active engagement and inclusion of all children and young people

Karen Dammer started her career in education as a secondary trained Music teacher in Dundee before becoming a ‘Principal Teacher of Guidance’. She has 15 years of experience in the classroom and was introduced to Cooperative Learning in 2012, where she revolutionised her learning and teaching as a result of this training.

Stewart Graves started his teaching career as a secondary Religious and Moral Education teacher. This led him to take a step into ‘Support for Learning’ and from there he never looked back!
